Massage Therapy & Acupuncture
Vicki Black’s passion for Chinese medicine began in 1996 when she received her training in Shiatsu Massage from Minnesota Center for Shiatsu Studies in Minneapolis, MN. In 2003, she expanded her offerings to include Acupuncture with a degree from Southwest Acupuncture College with an MS in Oriental Medicine. Her prior experience as a mental health social worker, using her BA in Psychology, has helped her to round out her tool box for mind-body-fitness. Vicki’s unique skill set draws from her appreciation for the foundations of Chinese medicine, which combined Shiatsu, Acupuncture, herbs and nutrition. Using all the “branches” of Chinese Medicine makes for powerful results that you will usually see after only a few sessions. Over the course of her practice, Vicki has specialized in sports injury recovery, pain relief, hard to treat illnesses, such as arthritis, migraines, IBS, MS, diabetes, high blood pressure and more. She also treats addiction, weight loss, depression and smoking cessation. She has adapted and personalized the protocol from the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, which utilizes Auricular or Ear Acupuncture. In addition, she enjoys practicing Cosmetic Acupuncture, also referred to as Facial Acupuncture. Combined with nutritional recommendations and herbal supplements, this therapy packs a punch for restoring balance and beauty inside and out. Because of her appreciation of nature and her understanding of the importance of quality of life as a component of wellness, Vicki relocated from the frenzied Front Range to Salida in 2013 to raise her children, Zoe (12) and Drew (14). They are enjoying the friendly, unpretentious Salida way of life, where it seems easier to live a healthy lifestyle connected to community. The small town environment reminds her of her roots in rural Nebraska (only better!)
